The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced this week the nominees for its annual achievement awards. Patrick Patrick Ervell, whom we told you about during New York Fashion Week, is one of the nominees for best new designers. Other nominees in this category include Tim Hamilton and Robert Geller. But the biggest surprise is that our beloved Band of Outsiders snagged a nod in the best menswear category, up against, of all people, Italo Zucchelli of Calvin Klein. Band of Outsider's look is casual and formal, combining tux pants with duffel jackets, or tuxedo jackets with clip-on ties. It's this high-low combination that lets Sternberg getaway with such concoctions as the three-piece suit in blue nylon above.
